More website sketches
Here are some more ideas I came up with today. I think I like it, but I dunno about how to set up the main page, so please, input would kick ass.
I might just put all the art up on this page, and make smaller squares so it takes up more room? I am getting this idea from this website: Dean Trippe. He's a great cartoonist/illustrator, so check it out when you can. Then the four links on top (blog, contact, info, and links) will have separate pages. Woop! Also, I was thinking of doing an individual page for Alien Raver, so I did this quick doodle..
As you can see, that was really a half-assed sketch. Heehee. I know you GDs are all falling off your chair hating that bubbly font lol, but I am not going to use that one, because I have a self-made font for Alien Raver. So yeah... tell me what you think!!! ::faints::

Pepsi Re-Designs Cans
It looks like Pepsi is releasing a whole series of can re-designs.
Pepsi Can Gallery (Skip the Intro)
I can't speak for each individually- but overall, I love the idea. Take the classic Pepsi Blue, and give it a sort of pattern. And I love the plain, simple Pepsi logo in the middle. Very classic in a way. I hate it when I pick up a can or bottle of cola and it's got some sort of promo label. I really like drinking out of a plain can or some reason.

Slowly Losing Touch
I was going through my notebook today, and figured I'd take a page out of the 'Shalimar Blogging Handbook' and post some pages here.
I think I'm losing touch with reality.

It's hard being green
Hey guys, I did a quick prototype for my website, to test out the design I want. I am HIGHLY picky/perfectionist/blah-zie, so please let me know what you think. I was going to save the ai file I was working on, but Illustrator wanted to be a poop, so it quit "unexpectedly" (I was in the process of saving, too. Oh the irony). But anyway, input is always appreciated. I am going to work on more prototypes tomorrow, so I'll post those once completed.

I want candy
No seriously... I do.
My recent self portrait, in the works. I was thinking of incorporating it into my website design, but I think I am going to use it as the index page "go ahead and enter!" image. Who knows, I've been so fucking picky lately. Makes me wanna hurl myself onto a purple brick wall, and not like it.

HAIR: THE MUSICAL (UPDATED)
I got a call recently from a close friend who just so happens to be my old director from my old high school's Musical Theatre department, mentioning that they were doing another show this spring and asking me wether I'd be interested in aiding them with some imagery for the show's marketing. At first I was a bit reluctant, as I've been going crazy with work and freelance, but in the end decided it could be a quick project to get out there. I figured that I could fit it in on my break at work and just in between any free time I'd have here and there, and I got myself into the mindframe.
The show is called "HAIR" and was a musical from the 70's about war and it's reprecussions, and learning to just be at peace and love with the world around you. It's a very happy go lucky musical, but the spin that my director decided to go for was one that was much more relevant in today's society, with very serious and dark undertones to it.
What was great for me in the process was that i got the opportunity to work with my friend, Alex (whom I usually do quite a lot of side work for on a LOT of his shows), with a completely different approach of designing and marketing a client's work. Since i've been working for my agency, i've really gained a lot of positive knowledge and understanding of the process of marketing. So this time, as it is the first time after learning so much, that I'm working with Alex, I feel so much more confident and prepared to propose ideas and follow them through. I did my research on the genres of the show, the messages, old war advertisments, and anything I could find to gain inspiration that was relevant and solid from history and the past. I took it all and started giving it a modern twist and came up with the images below.
He specifically wanted a set of different, iconic, and powerful imagery that said something about the themes of the musical. Although I'd like to ideally create about 3 more, these are the ones i've gotten to thus far. I think they get to the point and do what the client was looking for. These are just the front sides of the posters/postcards and the back will be solidified soon..
I just got excited by it all and wanted to share a stupidly long post about it :)

BEST MOVIE POSTER OF 2006
Posterwire.com has released it's choice for best movie poster of 2006, and with no surprise, it's.....
HARDCANDY!
I have loved this poster since it came out.. It really is a beauty. I feel like this is a perfect example of cleverly taking such a difficult subject matter to convey and running with it brilliantly. It doesnt rely on star power but simply on the power of it's subject matter. Way to go Ant Farm and Lionsgate :)
