Artist Spotlight: Ryan Sook

Ryan Sook is an American comic book artist from San Jose, California. He has worked on B.P.R.D. (a spin-off of Hellboy), Arkham Asylym: Living Hell, The Spectre, Hawkman, Seven Soldiers: Zatanna, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. He also illustrated X-Factor, written by Peter David at Marvel Comics. His style bears a strong resemblance to Mike Mignola and Adam Hughes.

I came across his artwork back in 2002 when he first pencilled an issue of the first run of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' comic books. He later went on to do one more story, and afterwards I did not come across his work until he pencilled and covered the re-launch of Peter David's 'X-Factor'. His style improved and grew immensely by this point and I found that his dark, noir-ish style fit the book beautifully. You can tell from the X-Factor Cover I places below that his style is very detailed and beautifully shadowed.

This wraps Laz's "Comic-Book-o-Obsess-o" Segment of PID. :)

I have never read any of the X-Factor comics. But they have always seemed like they would be interesting. These illustrations only make me want to jump into the comics that much more. I really like this guy's drawing style. And that last one with Multiple Man is great.
